The guy behind Portfolio Einstein
I started investing over 15 years ago and have traded (almost) every major financial instrument out there, including:
Over those 15 years, I have undertaken many strategies in order to beat the market, minimize volatility, maximize volatility, replicate an index, etc.
I may have made every possible investment mistake known to man! I’m therefore in a unique position to guide you away from those mistakes.
I’m absolutely addicted to data so portfolio tracking is right up my alley. I’m also addicted to personal finance. Oh and also cosmology, and psychology and technology (as in computers), and Lego, and human history, and personal improvement, and well…you get the point.
I’m also quite crazy about investing. It is a well that never runs dry. When I geek out on investing I often end up standing alone in the room (ok, so not all the time but it did happen once). In the past 15 years, I have read well over 250 books on investing. A small recommended sample can be found here.
I love reading and go through 75-100 non-fiction books per year. My goodnight stories are usually sci-fi and fantasy novels.
On the academic side I hold 2 masters., MSc. in Information Science and an M.A. in Science and Technology. I also have studies of theololgy and linguistics under my belt. That all sounds fancy enough but formal education really only prepares you for learning. The real education, the real useful stuff happens when you are actually out there and doing stuff by yourself. That’s when you learn.
To me investing is so much more than seeing your money grow. It’s about learning about human nature, your own nature, predicting the future. It about learning to think long-term. You see everything when you dive into investing:
- Stupidity that you cannot make up
- Cleverness that you cannot make up
- Lots of data
- Complexity – and indeed a lot of unnecessary complexity!
I love it all.
And I hope you will too!
